Golf-Specific Fitness
One of the Six Pillars of Long-Term Improvement at Good 2 Great Golf
Your Swing Is Connected to
How Your Body Moves
Golfers often work on swing mechanics without first asking an important question: does the body have the mobility, stability, strength and power needed to make the movement they are trying to create? A physical limitation can influence how a golfer moves and may contribute to compensations in the swing.
Golf-Specific Fitness is one of Good 2 Great Golf’s Six Pillars of Long-Term Improvement.
Rather than guessing, we assess how you move, identify physical limitations that may be affecting your golf swing, and use those findings to help build a more individualized path to improvement.

The Body-Swing
Connection
The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) describes the relationship between a golfer’s physical capabilities and swing mechanics as the Body-Swing Connection™. TPI’s Level 1 physical screen evaluates movement capabilities and helps a trained professional understand how physical limitations may correlate with common swing characteristics.
For the everyday golfer, this matters because the issue you see in your swing may not be purely technical. Limited mobility, stability or strength can influence how you rotate, maintain posture, sequence the body and produce force. Understanding those limitations helps the coaching and fitness team focus on the right problem instead of simply adding another swing tip.
Move Better. Play Better. Play Longer.
Golf Fitness Assessment Can Help Identify:
- Mobility limitations that may restrict efficient movement through the golf swing
- Stability or movement-control limitations that may lead to compensations
- Strength and power qualities that can influence performance and force production
- Physical capabilities that may help explain recurring swing characteristics
- Priorities for a personalized golf-specific exercise and training program
The goal isn’t simply to get stronger—it’s to help your body move better for your golf swing, improve performance, and reduce physical limitations that may be holding your game back.
Assess First.
Then Build the Plan.
TPI’s approach begins with assessment. The Level 1 screen provides a foundation for understanding a golfer’s movement capabilities, while advanced fitness and power assessments add testing for qualities such as strength, power, speed and cardiovascular fitness. The goal is not to make every golfer move the same way. It is to understand the individual golfer’s capabilities and develop a program that supports better movement, performance and long-term enjoyment of the game.

Integrated with the G2GG Improvement Team
At Good 2 Great Golf, golf-specific fitness is designed to complement—not replace—technical golf instruction. Our coaches can evaluate swing mechanics and ball-flight data while our fitness professionals evaluate the physical capabilities that support those movements. This team approach allows us to connect what the golfer is doing with the club to what the body is capable of doing.
That integration is a key part of the G2GG philosophy: combine expert coaching, objective assessment, technology and an individualized plan to create improvements that last.

★★★★★
“I had 4 great sessions with Mary Ellen last month. We worked on my main issues, mostly balance and lack of pelvic/torso rotation. She also provided some great exercises to work on my flexibility and speed with a sharp focus on safe and proper form. My golf swing has a little more speed now!“
